West London Crematorium is located inside the historic Kensal Green Cemetery, just off the Harrow Road.

The Chapels

There are two chapels - both are available to book for either funeral or memorial services.

East Chapel
The East Chapel has recently been restored to its former glory in a £120,000 project. It is furnished traditionally with oak pews on either side of a central aisle and wood panelling. It can seat around 95 people.
The coffin rests on an Art Deco, marble catafalque at the front centre of the chapel. The oak parquet floor is exposed and there is new heating and lighting, meaning that the chapel is bright and warm throughout the year. There is a new music system in the chapel called Obitus. There is also a traditional organ in the chapel (you need to book your own organist). There are fully automated curtains which close around the coffin on the catafalque. The fresh flowers in the chapel are replaced every week.

West Chapel (by special request only)
The West Chapel is decorated and furnished in a more contemporary style and seats up to 90 people on individual chairs with room for more standing. The light oak catafalque has a canopy and descending curtains. By closing the dividing curtains the new chapel can be reduced to a capacity of 42, allowing greater intimacy for a smaller number of people.

You can witness the start of the cremation, by special request.

Cremations can be booked at the following times each day:
9am, 9.30am, 10am, 10.30am, 11.15am, 12 noon, 12.45pm, 1.30pm, 2.15pm, 3pm, 3.45pm

Cremations are usually booked on weekdays but can also be booked Saturdays and Sundays for an extra charge.

Directions

The entrance to the crematorium is via the cemetery entrance in Harrow Road, only 15 minutes drive from the West End via Edgware Road, and 5 minutes from M40/Westway via Scrubs Lane. The entrance is opposite Hazel Road by Gallery A2. There is a car park at the crematorium. If this is full, you may park on the cemetery roads as long as there is enough space for other cars to get past you.

West London Crematorium is situated close to Kensal Green station (Bakerloo and Overground).

You don’t have to go to your nearest crematorium. There are many crematoria in London so choose one which fits your needs. You might want to make an appointment to visit the crematorium in advance to see the chapel and the gardens.
