Funerals in the Conservatory at the Horniman Museum & Gardens

THE CONSERVATORY

The Grade II listed cast iron Conservatory stands proudly in the grounds of the Horniman Museum & Gardens in Forest Hilll, South East London. It was originally built by the Horniman family in 1894 and has recently been beautifully restored to its original splendour. The Conservatory, based on the original Crystal Palace, stands within its own stylish terrace and allows guests to enjoy easy access to the award-winning Horniman Gardens. It is an extraordinary and elegant place to hold a funeral service.

HOW IT WORKS

We will liaise with the events team at the Horniman to find a suitable date and time for the funeral to take place.

The funeral service will take place in the Conservatory followed by a committal at a nearby crematorium (Honor Oak or West Norwood), a cemetery or a natural burial ground. You can choose whether you’d like to attend the committal, or if you’d prefer to stay at the Horniman for the wake. You can also hold the wake at another venue after the service, if you’d prefer.
