Award-winning funeral florist Cassandra Thompson from Stems UK believes that the foundation of excellent funeral floristry lies within using really good techniques and pushing the boundaries of what is available to us by adopting ethical methods. 

Whether you are a fully qualified florist or looking for a career change, this is a fantastic insight into how we produce inspiring funeral designs.  Modern, ethical and eco designs are very much at the forefront of funeral floristry and we will explore these methods during this class.

This class is designed to explore your creativity and push boundaries sharing some great modern techniques that will put you on the road to endless possibilities and build confidence within this field.

The day will begin by looking at all the different sundries available to us, including eco-friendly foam and wire frames.  You will be shown different techniques of ways to retain water keeping the flowers and foliage as fresh as possible until the service.

Cassandra will demonstrate one of her favourite designs and then you will make one your own version to take home. 

We will then finish with a demonstration of a modern foliage and succulent design.

The class will be relaxed and very informative.  It will also be a wonderful way to network and make friends with like-minded people in the industry.

Funerals & Flowers, a talk by Louise Winter
Meet Louise Winter, funeral director and best-selling author of ‘We All Know How This Ends’ (Bloomsbury, 2021). She’ll give us a tour of her beautiful modern funeral home Poetic Endings, based in Forest Hill in London, and will share stories, insights and practical advice on making funerals meaningful, personal and cost-effective. She’ll be on hand to answer any of your questions about working with funeral directors and the funeral industry in general.
